"Viewsat bin stability warning

Seems they may have jumped the gun a bit on these bins. I've been told to warn people of the possibility of no LED after flashing.Viewsat will release new bins shortly and any who have the lights out syndrome are instructed to send them back to Viewsat for a free replacement. This hasn't occured alot, but Mr V wanted me to make this announcement to let you all know that IF it does happed to you, your unit will be replaced, free of charge. Contact viewsatusa.com to replace any defective units. Keep in mind this is only happening to a very small % of the units.. Keep an eye out for new releases a little later. Thanks."

This may apply to clones I have had mine up for 12hr. Ong Tu

I have had no problem installing new bin right over the old, and from what I'v read no one else has. If you got a clone be carefull!

The clones are safe as the problem is clone kill code in the bins for the authentic viewsats. If you have a clone you have nothing to worry about.

Question...how can MR V tell anybody to return their Viewsats to Viewsat if there is a problem with the new bins using "3rd party" software!.....and Viewsatusa.com or doesn't allow "illegal software other than "factory" bins!...and ANY bin for Dishnet or Bev is considered "illegal" and 3rd party"....sounds BOGUS to me and contradicts the "Viewsat" policy 100%!...I say TDG or anyone who made that statement on behalf of Viewsat is 100% BS!

LK, those were my thoughts also, but thought it prudent to post this! Better to let people know and make up there own mind, and to get inputs such as yours. My thought was that if they sent it back in that they would reset to factory defaults.I will do some more research on this.

I agree with LK. This post would suggest that VS condones the use of illegal software in their receivers.

Has anyone had the problem of the loader2 not loading? This is happening when trying to load bin. It reads "sending zrqirit" and then few seconds later it reads "resending zrqitit". Then a frame number blinks up behind it. I don't know what the problem is. Any thoughts on this one? Please help.

The first post was in haste when realized people were having problems. the .pgm is safe, but some people weren't letting it finish flashing. This was also posted in that same thread a little later:
"Some probs are from users not waiting long enuff after flashing. The unit now has an extra step involved. When finished it will say END, then 0000, then boot, then END, then back to last channel or 0000. You must wait till this process finishes before unplugging. Unplugging while it is finishing causes the no LED failure. Also, do NOT clones this bin receiver to receiver via serial ports. I've had no probas at all myself, so this is an FYI. If unit is dead and you have another VS, load a factory bin on other VS, and attach null cable to dead unit. Make sure first units is on and working, then turn dead one on via rear switch and try to clone from working unit. This will work in many cases, but if not, VS will replace unit free of charge."

If you have a dead unit, you can get the address to send back at viewsatusa.com. Send unit with note "Dead unit, no power" it will be replaced or repaired free of charge.

Also, for the record, You guys know i don't usually come here, but this was a quote from my post. I just wanted to clear this up. LK has a plate full so cut him some slack... Almost all FTA units will be back up this week. Viewsat didn't put the fake code in allowing others to disect the .pgm. Now opensource is up (giving full credit to Viewsat) and we will see someone porting the solution from linux to windows, and FTA units will magically start coming back up. Today it takes more than opensource to get the job done. It takes engineers, labs, & $$$. But in the end we all have tv again.. :-)

U better learn how to use the internet and any forums first...lose the CAPS, considered rude and yelling!...then learn how to READ and U might learn something..plenty of manuals and guides to use to troubleshoot any problems U have..
