ok i know that the impedance on a sub will rise depending on the hz, box size, sub, amp and a million other factors, but is there a way to determin the rise, see im probally gonna get the aa assassin for my book shelf stereo, but the sub now is rated at 6ohms and the assassin is 4ohm, so with imp. rise i figure that it will be around 5.5 ohms is that close or am i shooting in the dark.

impedance will be different at EVERY frequency...at some frequencies your amp will actually see right at 4ohm. (very few times)

you wouldn't happen to have some good links explaining impedance rise would ya, i've allways wanted to know more about it. so if its different at every hz, is it a slight difference like .1ohms or a big difference.
