Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - 02:59 GMT Go with what your ears tell you. But I would not get Harman kardon speakers. They make great receivers but I don't think their speakers are their strong suit. They sound muffled and really lacks good detail.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - 03:10 GMT Neither if you are pairing them with Athenas. A better bet would be the Pioneer VSX 816. The Panasonic has received rave reviews, it just wasn't my cup o' tea. You'd probably like it.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - 03:45 GMT The Panasonic sounds a lot better than the Onkyo (much better outputs), IMO, but it is quite limited in power, so you need to put it in a small room with fairly efficient speakers. Of course, Onkyo, being Onkyo, never puts in a large enough power supply to drive a full 5.1 system, so it is no better. Go with the Panny between those two.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - 06:25 GMT I love the Panny but not sure if I'd recommend it with Athenas since others who've tried that combo have usually complained of brightness unless it was an HT-only setup. Between the Micras and Point 5s, the P-5s are definitely better.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - 14:34 GMT instead of satellites, you would probably be better off with the Insignia bookshelves that Best Buy has for $40/pair right now. Main downside is that they are not shielded so don't put them right next to your TV if it's a CRT.
