New member Username: BassfiendPost Number: 9 Registered: Aug-06 | I'm still really not sure exactly what clipping is.. I've read the defitition over and over again, but I still don't get how you can "ask an amplifier to deliver more current to a speaker than the amp is capable of doing." This is the system I'm getting: 2 - 12" Sidewinders >> http://www.mdcaraudio.com/sidewinder12.html -------- 1- Massive Audio P1000.1 Mono Amplifier >> http://massiveaudio.com/lowband/prod...pro/p1000.html -------- 1- Eclipse CD-8445 Head Unit >> http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd8445.html -------- 1- Dual 12" Dual Ported Box -------- Will I have to worry abot clipping? |

The result is that instead of a sinewave signal like the amp would normally produce, you get a square wave, or at least one where the peaks of the wave are "clipped" off. The result is increased heat across the speaker coils, which can cause them damage. |
