Bronze Member Username: OglejustPost Number: 19 Registered: Aug-06 | ok i made a 2in diameter 7in long port out of pvc pipe. they say that will tune it to 40 hz. well i can move the pipe in and out... to change how much is in the box... and it made no difference. is it because its still 7 in of pipe whether 7in is in the pipe or 3 is in the pipe? to hear a difference do i need to cut the pipe? i just want my sub to be LOUD! i want pure spl. if my 12in sub is in a 2.4^ft box how big and deep should the port be to make it loudest? thanks |

Gold Member Username: James1115Ct Post Number: 6115 Registered: Dec-04 | yes its the length and width of the port that gives it the tune. The difference between it being in the box and out would only be displacement which wont amount to enough to change much (not audibly anyway). If you make it shorter yes it will make your tune higher, but unless you are running a subsonic filter I don't reccomend it. The higher the tune the less musical it is due to the fact that a sub will lose control on any notes below tuning. That means that you will easily cause your sub to over excure and blow if not fixed. |
Bronze Member Username: OglejustPost Number: 21 Registered: Aug-06 | well the only pvc pipe i had was 2 in... should i get 3 in? if so how long should it be to tune to 45hz? how long for 35hz? |
Bronze Member Username: OglejustPost Number: 22 Registered: Aug-06 | would a 45hz tuning be louder (spl) than a 35? |
Silver Member Username: J_baby15Kentucky Post Number: 489 Registered: Feb-06 | for straight spl, try a lil bigger box, wit 2 3" or 2 4" pipes and tune to like 40hz. but if i was u i would go wit like 2 3" and tune to like 35. what kinda sub makes a lot of diff. |
Bronze Member Username: OglejustPost Number: 24 Registered: Aug-06 | ok thanks. 1 more question... how long should the 2 3in pipes be to make it 35hz? |

Bronze Member Username: OglejustPost Number: 29 Registered: Aug-06 | what is the best treo they make? the csx? |
Silver Member Username: J_baby15Kentucky Post Number: 498 Registered: Feb-06 | CSX is for short burps only. SSX would b the best for daily driving SPL. SSI are good SQL-more toward SQ i think. Mine sounded nice. TSX are SQL too i think. but more toward spl from wat i hear. |
