Capture Problem

I have a Panasonic PV-GS250, and I am trying to capture it through Adobe Premier Pro 7. The problem is that everything is connected correctly, and the device is detected, but Premiere isn't able to activate the recorder. It suggests resetting the camera, and when I do, for a couple of seconds it seems like it's able to control it (it says STOPPED), but then it goes back to not being able to activate the recorder. I have it connected through the USB cable... however, underneath the LCD panel, there is another jack that is labeled DV, and is shaped different than the USB connection on the camera (it might be firewire, I don't know, I've never used it) but I was wondering if anyone has any idea how I can get Premier to activate and capture video from my camera.

DO NOT USE USB. You will not get audio and the video is really choppy and really bad quality.

You want to use the DV output...and yes that is firewire. It carries both video and audio information.
