me and my 15" H2 without an amp went to my local car audio shop to get metered....and while playing top back by T.I. i measured at 127.6....i was suprised it got that loud without an amp.
idk, sub ohms and speaker ohms seem different to me, like even though its the same ohms its still harder to push, but im sure it really doesnt matter but i would still fix it asap
If you hook up a sub to HU directly, then you're not really measuring music, but noise/distortion. The output power on HUs are very low and limited. Therefore if you push it too hard, it will clip/distort. A sure way of blowing your HU and the sub.
and now that i think about it your also trying to play music through your sub which isnt good, and yes if you work you HU to hard it will clip which is bad for the HU and the speaker
Cant alot of the spl still be measured off his 6x9s or other components? no way that sub can push much with only 12wrms. i give mine around 2300-2500rms then again it hits alot higher than that.
i had my 15 runnin straight off the hu for a long time, only thing that ever died was the battery. it sounded real good, and the words of the music were much liuder, its better with the amp though... i had it on my alpine HU, 45wx4 and i was also running 8 speakers too. 2 6.5's, 4 6x9's, and 2 4's.
