Bronze Member Username: WatzupwituPost Number: 33 Registered: Jun-06 | Does anyone know how to hack the hell out of the new digital cable boxes?. Have we been shut out of both satellite and cable for good??. All I get is public access tv but when you watch it drunk and high, it turns into p@rn. That's what I was told. |

PBS does have the occassional adult programming ;-) LOL Saturday night British comedies are the only good thing on there. Sometimes Nova is good...but rest is boring. I want to know how to 'test' digital cable myself...any oneee? |
New member Username: Aae2k2Post Number: 4 Registered: Jun-06 | Yes! R@dioSh@ck has a filter that costs about $4.00 you can purchase you simply install it backwards...however this will only work on ppv that you purchase...Oh yeah, you need to make d@mn sure you do a hard reboot on your cable box before the cable co. ever gets their hands back on it because they will see and then subsequently charge you for all that you stole...I mean tested, hehehe |
Bronze Member Username: WatzupwituPost Number: 34 Registered: Jun-06 | Nick, I've tried that filter before, doesn't work. It was nothing but a scam. |
New member Username: Aae2k2Post Number: 5 Registered: Jun-06 | Tony, So you`re telling me that a 54-1000 mhz filter installed reverse polarity in-line doesnt work? Nick...just try it, dont let other peoples negativity and defeatist attitude stop you...besides, it`s $4.00!!! If I were gonna mess with you I would try talking you into something useless that would cost a helluva lot more than $4.00. Good Luck |

Gold Member Username: The_wank_artistPost Number: 1222 Registered: Feb-06 | Just put an old VCR in front of it, which stops the two way of the box and the sending of PPV info back to homebase. Then as Dave says hard boot the box to erase the memory. |
New member Username: Aae2k2Post Number: 6 Registered: Jun-06 | Tyler...Ive never heard of the old VCR trick, I`ll be tryin that out...Thanks! |
Gold Member Username: The_wank_artistPost Number: 1225 Registered: Feb-06 | Yeah, VCR's don't work in a two-way capacity so if you run a cable from the wall to VCR, then to box, then to TV, they usually stop the return signal. At least they used to. Don't keep it too long like that or you'll be flagged as having a faulty set up and you may get a visit from you know who... |
Bronze Member Username: WatzupwituPost Number: 35 Registered: Jun-06 | Dave, I wasn't talking about the radio shack filter, I've never tried that. I'm talking about the ones online like this; cableboxfilters.c0m I bought one from online and ordered ppv and the sent me the bill. |
New member Username: JustauserPost Number: 2 Registered: Jul-06 | So if the filter is installed and preventing 2 way communication, how does ordering via the remote work? |
Silver Member Username: HardrockstrikerPost Number: 228 Registered: Apr-06 | Tony, did you clear your receiver's memory, like the website says? |
Bronze Member Username: NickbNew York, New York USA Post Number: 77 Registered: May-06 | Thanks Dave...I will try the filter...and seeee And thanks Tyler..that VCR trick is geniuss...I will try it out. Thanks guys! |
Bronze Member Username: WatzupwituPost Number: 37 Registered: Jun-06 | Yes, I did that. |
Gold Member Username: The_wank_artistPost Number: 1229 Registered: Feb-06 | You still order via the remote. I think the box stores purchases in memory until home base sends a blast telling all the boxes to return the purchase info. The box gets the message, sends the info but the VCR/Filter stops the message at that point as the two way signal is prevented. Under normal circumstances, the home base would send an additional message to those boxes that have answered, clearing the boxes purchase memory. But since the message was stopped mid way, the box does not get the erase message and the purchases just sit there. You have to figure that the box has a limited capacity of how many (or how much $$) it can hold at one time before preventing more ordering. |

Silver Member Username: LuciaPost Number: 199 Registered: May-06 | we got televitis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
New member Username: TroopsToronto, Ontario Canada Post Number: 3 Registered: Jul-06 | Televitis????????? sounds like an std......lol. |
New member Username: JustauserPost Number: 3 Registered: Jul-06 | Well, I guess my point was, if the box can not communicate with "home base" how can you order a pay-per-view ?? I actually did have a dvd recorder between the wall and the DCT6208 and it did prevent my "Movies On Demand" from working. I could not select any movies at all from the menu. I did not try any ppv but later found out that I could not have anyway, since on my account, my credit limit was inadvertantly set to Zero. |
New member Username: KcndaPost Number: 3 Registered: Jul-06 | Thanks Dave I will try the filter and see if it works. And thanks Tyler that VCR trick Sounds Like it's good I will try it out too. Thanks guys! |
