I recently went to the car audio store in town, because my left-front speaker was fading in and out. I had it checked out by a very experienced worker, and he found that the wire connecting the speaker to the head unit was melting where the speaker wire connects to the head unit itself. He said he was aware that Sony's run hot, but in his five years of car audio, he had never heard or seen anything like this. Has anyone had problems like this? or heard of such a thing? thanks.
Is it a piece of the actual car that was touching the wire? I would think that the problem has to do with bad parts inside the head unit. If the speaker is fading in and out and the wire is melted, I would conclude it needs to be taken in for repair.
