hi all
I can't seem to communicate via port1 on my fortec receiver; jtag works fine, RS232 cable is fine, and I'm using the correct loader, but can't seem to get any response at all from the receiver; can anyone help? thanks

What fortec do you have? If it is the classic NA, you need a NULL MODEM cable, not straight thru!

it's an Ultra (don't know if its a clone or not); I had this problem along time ago and it took many tries before I was able to conect and download; I had used a straight cable then; I was measuring the voltages on the RS232 chip and noticed that where I was supposed to get -10V (pin 6), I was getting +5V; my voltage is not doubling and inverted as it should; thanks

Try both straight-thru and null.

Try a different cable (i.e. a new one)
