I want an audio distribution system with atleast 6 zones that can be controlled from a remote control seperatly from wall mounted bus control panels. There are alot that use a remote to control individual zones from that zone through the wall mounted control panel, but I want to be able to use a remote to control each zone seperatly and independantly from each other no matter where I am in the house.
I know there are systems out with RS232 inputs that you can control it the way I want, but that involves buying really high end remotes with controlers with rs232 output. I have been told that there are ir expanders that will interface rs232 bus systems that will change any IR command to an rs232 code. Does anyone know of some models or equipment to do this?
Jeremy, I haven't heard of anything that will help you. Only the higher end serial (RS232) based systems seem to have this functionality... and expensive (that's why I don't have it in my whole house audio setup).
