"Better than" means what? How are they better? Did you listen to them? I have the Monitor Audio RS8. A google search turned up nada on the 1220Gs. Ask the dealer to set them up next to the RS6 as have a listen.
The 1200G is a used/trade-in model, I could not find anything on the net or B&W website either.
The dealer's pitch is that it was better made, more quality components at MSRP original at $2500, instead of the "budget" MSRP price of the RS6. His argument is that for roughly the same price, a used but higher quality made speaker is better.
He did let me compare the 1200G to the B&W 603 and it was very good. The 603 has a cleaner mid range but the 1200G goes deeper in bass and has a wider soundstage.
I will try to get him to demo the RS6 and 1200G side by side, thanks Dan.

I am thinking of Rega Apollo, Prima Luna Prologue One and the RS6 or 1200G. Would this be a good combo? I listen to mainly classical, opera and female vocal.
Got info from Kevro, a MA dealer, that it was introduced in the early 90's and discontinued five years later. Couldn't be too successful if it was discontinued only 5 years after intro?
