I am fairly new to FTA but I read a lot and lerned pretty quickly. I tested a Pansat 3500 SD for about two weeks before the June 1st round of DN ECM. I want to discuss how often DN and BEV have taken measures like this in the era of the newer recievers which rendered the receivers useless for a week as they have done now.
Changing keys happen around every 2-3 weeks for BEV and 1-2 months for DN. At least that's been the trend.
This ECM which really is different from a key change and was started by BEV about two weeks ago. DN followed last weekend with their own ECM, probably based on how successful (at the time) the BEV one went. You have to assume that they talk between themselves about the current state of FTA and the measures they take to counter it. Now however it would seem as though the Viewsat programmers have cracked the ECM, which I hope leads to the other programmers to correct their bins. Here's hoping anyway.
