Help with resin

Gold Member Username: BestmankindLos Angeles, CA USA Post Number: 3996 Registered: Oct-05 | i have some questions about resin for those of you who have experiences or know about using resin. can i buy it at home depot or lowes? do i need to mix it with something before i apply it on to wood or do i just brush it on straight out of the can? i want to resin the inside of the box so it will be stronger and smoother. thanks in advance. |

Bronze Member Username: BobimpactPost Number: 17 Registered: May-06 | Polyester resins need a catalyst called MEKP (methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) You can lengthen dry time by putting less catalyst into your resin. Also, be sure that you buy a high grade of resin, cheap resins can shrink and expand a great deal. On a 75 degree day you can pretty much count on a 1 fl. oz. of resin to 1cc of MEKP ratio. |

Silver Member Username: AdddisorderWest palm, Florida Post Number: 290 Registered: Jan-06 | chad at a surf shop you can get some stuff i foget what its called but it comes in a little black bottle, and you dont have to mix anything, just pour it and smooth it out with a little foam roller from homedepot. it is very stong cures very fast and is great stuff, iv used it a few times for other stuff. |
