Hi, I've got direct tv for my house, one plugin runs up from the ground in the living room and one from a room on the opposite side of the house as my room. The guy in that room moved out and what I need to do is to extend that satelite cable that's running up from the ground, it's only about four feet long and I'm about 35' away, I bought an RG-6 cable that came with a ground from radio shack, under thier advisement, and ran it to a "High quality splitter" that was already laying around the house, it splits into two 8db plugins and one 4db plugins ( whatever DB's are). I can't pick up a signal using my cable from radio shack at all. I found some kind of cable (according to the satelite booklet it's an RF-6 I think) and plugged that to the splitter, and ran it to the satellite box. This still didn't work. So I'm assuming the problem is the splitter....

So how to I extend this satellite cable?

Hey Brandon..not that i pretend to be an expert..you may get better advice..but normaly you cannot use everday splitters for satellite..what i would suggest is an inline amplifier (about $6-8 bucks) add it to the short end of the rg6..then buy another 35ft or whatever you need of rg6 cable to add to the amp..then to your t.v. best i can do..
