I believe that the Art Series is from the early 90's and the Power is fom the late 90's. I guess older is better in this case? I know that the new PPI stuff is supposed to really suck.
Actually the new PPI amps aren't that bad. If you had a choice, go for the Art series first, then the power. Take a look at PC series too (designed and made in US, just like Art). They're very good for components.
If he can get that amp at a good price, he should jump on it. I have both Art and PC series, and it is very hard to distinguish be ear. Both great amps.
