Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 15:56 GMT Is there some sort of rule to determine now much space you need per cubic inch of total enclosure volume or something?

Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 16:01 GMT a decent rule is 10-14sq inches of port per net cuft of box went using slot-ports ex...3cuft net box---~30sq inches. this when tuning for daily drivin though (30-38hz)...tuning for SPL it totally different. in some cases, bigger isnt alway better for SPL *hint-hint*

Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 16:05 GMT yea i know that a smaller port tunes the enclosure to a higher freq, i jus needed to know how to design a ported enclosure so it sounds right the first time. lol i dont want to have to rebuild it two or three times. also what tuning freq should i use on alpine type r 12s and treo tsx 12s. both are going to be used for SQL..

Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 16:06 GMT ^^I meant shorter port with same length and width..just a shorter depth a smaller port in general will cause the whistling effect.

Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 16:16 GMT for daily driving...i would recommend ~2-2.25cuft tuned to 32hz w/ ~20-24sq inches of port....per sub. maybe alil smaller box for the R's...like 1.8-2cuft maybe) if you do a single chambered box w/ 2 12's...try 4.25cuft w/ 42sq inches of port. (tune to 32hz)
