I currently have a 2006 mazda, and I've heard rumors that changing the alternator is not possible. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Also, any ideas on what to do or how many watts max to run would be helpful. Thank you in advance.
A lot of the late model Mazda's are using The Mitsubishi alternators on them. Some of the newer ones have an amperage contoller in the computer and will not allow a high output alternator to work on them. This really sucks but we will eventually find a way to bypass it and get the alts on there. It will be a while though. Your car might have that style set up on it. Who told you that you could not get a high output alt for it ?
Well i looked on mazda3 forums and it seems to be the general consensus. Most people end up with doing everything but the ho alt and are able to achieve success to about ~1400watts. I guess it will be like a trial and error as far as pushing the system. A new ho alt for the newer mazdas would be incredible!!
