Just got my first 2 DVDA disks today. The Mannheim Steamroller home theater demo plays fine. The Buena Vista Social Club produces no sound even though the counters and track indicators all run as expected.
I'm running a Denon 756s dvd through a Denon Avr-786S. Cds, and tuner work fine.
Does your Denon 756s have DVD-A decoding - can you see the DVD-A logo on it? Some DVD-A's will have either DD or DTS versions and unless your player decodes mlp (DVD-A) then that is probably what you heard. I have not heard of the Denon 756 and it is not one of the Denon players I know that will support DVD-A.
Okay - sorry, I looked it up and it does support DVD-A. I suggest looking at your manual. Did you select the playlist and playback option from the disc menu? Have you connected the analogue cables to the receiver and select "ext inputs" or similar on the receiver?
The DVD player says it will play DVD: audio, video, RW and R; Super audio CD, Stereo multi-channel, as well as audio CDs.
The DVD box says especially for DVD-audio. Playback possible on all DVD-video 0r audio/video players. DVD video compatible DDS or DVD-audio, Advanced resolution surround or stereo DVD audio.
My system was wired by a home theater system specialist.
Is it wired with analog cables? You will not play SACD and true DVD-A through digital. It needs to use the six analog wires from the DVD player to the Receiver. You might want to call your home theater system specialist and ask.
