New member Username: GlasswolfPost Number: 311 Registered: 12-2003 | live and let live. I like just about everything, but never got into country much. Hip Hop is very bass heavy, but that doesn't mean that other musical genres aren't just as full of low end. Rock is, and always has been, very bass intensive, but in a more complex manner than Hip Hop for the most part, since the bass from Rock music stems from bass guitar as well as drums, where Hip hop relies more on drums and synth, like electronic music. Listen to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon some time. If you can afford it, have the desire, and can find it, there's an out of print CD I see on eBay sometimes that's one of my absolute favorite demo CDs. It's Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's (MFSL) 24K Gold pressed CD of Dark Side of the Moon. The bass on that disc is flawless, smooth and tight, and blends incredibly well to midbass and above. The heart beat at the beginning of the CD also spikes at 20Hz, so if you really want to test out the low end extension of your subs, for about $50, that CD will do the trick. It'll run your entire system through the wringer in fact. I blew out countless soft dome tweeters in my old IASCA car with that CD listening to the alarm clocks at the start of the track "Time" as well. That was an amazing CD.. a virtual trip through the mind of a madman. Much akin to The Wall. anyway, lots of good stuff out there. I just picked up a 4 disc set from Enya, of all things, and the bass on that CD is astounding... listening to it in the house had the floors shaking from my single 12" sub, and the four 8" in my KEF Reference mains, and beyond that, the music is fantastic.. very moving stuff. |
Anonymous | This is to Hydro. My best friend got me into the car stereo scene about 3 years ago. He had a pioneer stereo (not that great, but a good start) and as soon as i heard that blast of music, i was hooked. And guess what kind of music it was? ROCK! Not that rap bullshi t!! You sound like one of those typical fa gs who want to be "cool" and think rap is "good" music that will make you popular. Rap is not actually music but go ahead and jump on that bandwagon. Just because someone likes a loud car stereo with lots of bass doesnt mean they like rap. I hate rap and i have a loud, baddass system. Nothing against you man, just dont give me that shi t. |
New member Username: HydroPost Number: 46 Registered: 12-2003 | You sound like one of those typical fa gs who want to be "cool" and think rap is "good" music that will make you popular. 1.I have a girlfriend who is very beautiful so Im not a fa g 2.Only Losers talk about being cool 3.I bet u Ive heard more rock music in my lifetime and I prefer Rap. Play some rock music and see how dorky u look buddy its not me who is judgin u its all the women out there ,yea the ones who always turn u down when they meet you in person.U know at least I dont call myself anonymous and start namecaling on a public forum have some guts and show urself.By the Way plz dont tell me ur system consists of Sony Xplod Subwoofers cuz those arent bassass.Get A Life and have a Merry Christmas |

Anonymous | Hey hydro. You would've had a good arguement if you were right. Actually, ive always been able to get girls, and the stereo never had anything to do with it, and no, people dont look dorky if they are driving around listening to rock, (unless it is some really ga y rock), i think people who drive aroung listening to rap look rediculous. And at least you have listened to rock so you have the right to say that it sucks. Its just ashame that you like rap. And i actually have a 10W7. merry christmas |
New member Username: GlasswolfPost Number: 323 Registered: 12-2003 | let's not get into a "your music sucks" argument here please. This thread was going along nicely, noting some good music to try out in audio systems. If ya don't like one person's list, post your own and leave it be. Reminds me, if you want some good driving music, check out a song by OffSpring called "Bad habit" that song rocks. It always makes me want to drive about 90MPH.. right past the crossing guard *snicker* |

My favorites for incredible, true to life, the way basss was meant to hit, are a Skywalker Sound (i think) 24 bit pressing of the Star Wars score, The Imperial March... wow! It's seeing stars and "charge the paddles, CLEAR!" kind of bass! - also Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. In Latin music, Eliades Ochoa's "Sublime Ilusion" or Ruben Blade's "La Rosa de los Vientos" will test any setup to the limits, Albita's "Una Mujer como Yo" has some rapid-fire drums that are pretty exciting, also. Thanks, JBG |

Anonymous | This is probably the one and only time i will ever post on this site, but i have to say that this forum has become a disgrace to many of the people on this site. People should just learn to respect eachother and their music, etc. Just cause someone doesn't like rap doesn't mean they have to go dissin' on it and likewise with rock. I personally like both genres for the varieties. A lot of rappers couldn't do half the stuff with instruments that a lot of the rockers can do, but I know that it also takes some skill to go on like a lot of rappers can in their songs...and noone but a DJ can do what a DJ does. Maybe this was too long, but my point is that people should learn to respect eachother and not have to get into debates over who's music is cooler, who's system is better or who's more heterosexual...Respect eachother, and peace! |
