I just purchased a velodyne HGS-10 sub. When I plugged it in at home, and with only the sub plugged into the wall, it makes a low but high pitched sound. I took it back to the dealer and plugged it in and it does not make the sound. Does anyone know what this is, is it harmful to the sub (or just annoying to me), and how to get rid of it. Thanks!

It's called 60 cycle hum and it's produced through your ground in the wall plug. Go to Target or Radio shack and buy an adapter to take your plug from a 3 prong to a 2 prong. About $1

I have this exact same problem and am also looking for an answer. Our subwoofer is already just a 2 prong. Do you have any other suggestions? Could being 10 blocks away from hydro-electric wires be causing it? Thanks.
