Hi there. I just won a Polk Audio CS150 center channel speaker on Ebay. It arrived today, and I anxiously hooked it up to my stereo system. To my dissapointment I found that the left woofer wasn't working. I opened it up to find that the left woofer has no magnet, or hook-ups for wires. . or wires even! It doesn't even look like it ever had wires coming from the terminal. The right woofer is hooked up and working, as is the tweeter.

I did a quick search online and couldn't find much info since it's an older model.

My question to you guys is:

Did this model have a "dummy" woofer? Or did I get screwed?

Thanks for helping a noob here! :-)

It's a 'passive radiator'.
Google the speaker.
Go to the Polk site.
How does it sound?

Ok. . so I see on the Polk site that they list it as a "bass radiator."

Subwoofer 1 - 4-1/2" Diameter (11.43cm)
MW4800 bass radiator
Midrange 1 - 4-1/2" Diameter (11.43cm)
MW4802
Tweeter 1 - 1" Diameter (2.54cm)
SL4000

So what exactly is a bass radiator. Obviously it's not powered. I'm no scientist, and I don't really get how it works.

Thanks for the quick reply btw! :-)

Oh and as far as how they sound. . .so far so good. I've only had it for a couple hours, and was only able to test it with music. I just moved and I have horrible horrible noise in my A/C here. I have an audible hum in my system here. :-( I am working on fixing that, then I can test out the speaker with a dvd.
