New member Username: Jryan781Post Number: 5 Registered: Nov-05 | I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and im still using my factory alternator. I have a 1600 watt amp that runs my 2 12inch subs(1100 watts peak, 600 watts rms) and I just recently installed a new 200 watt head unit. Would you guys recomend that I get a capacitor? I saw a .5 farad cap at a local car audio store and was wondering if it would make my bass sound better? |

If you need more power, you need to get a bigger alternator. Also keep in mind, no matter what, a capacitor puts more strain on the alternator. However, you might not need to even do that as a new head unit might take only 4-5 amperes extra. |
