I have a sherwood receiver with a PHONES output but no input for a microphone at the front. I would dearly like to plug in my microphone for karaoke but dont know where to start. can i use converters to plug the microphone into - in the red/white audio at the back of the receiver? would this work? cheers muchly. if not, is there another way to plug a microphone into a tv or dvd player?
Kareoke is usually done with a dedicated player and amp combo. These devices also have outs for the stereo, but be warned, live mic is veryy hard on home speakers. It is best to get a player with an amp and monitor for the purpose, these have an out for video. Also the discs are cdr-g, and a cdp will give audio out, as well as video.
The cdg out will let the music play, while a simple mic/amp/monitor will provide a seperate vocal for you. A marshall 10w amp will do nicely, packages are good from Peavey also.
