I dont understand exactly, i know it should be at 2/3 of max volume (about #40 out of 60), but with bass, treble, midrange FLAT? (number 0). "Turn the gain upto no distortion is heard"
What's distortion? when you hear the subwoofer cracking? too BOOMY?
What about if you set it properly (with everything flat) and then you change the bass to #4 (instead of flat #0)??? Then at 2/3 distortion may happen.
What about if you listen to some songs with much bass and you adjusted properly, but then play another song with MUCHO MORE BASS and distortion comes?
Please, what's the way to CORRECTLY adjust our amplifier and prevent it from clipping? (WITHOUT THE DEVICE TO DO THAT)?
get the song with the most bass....turn everything to zero....and if u use the loud feature turn it on....then turn ur HU up 3/4...then turn ur gain up to where it sounds good...no clipping
i had the same problem ..took a while to fix...took it to professional places ..but they didnt help..then everytime i got in my car i changed the gain a little but until it sounded perfect
well i have a bass control knob wired up to the front...and i never change it..its up all the way...i change the bass control on the head unit all the time though...but the bad thing about that is...since my head unit is one of the lower end pioneers, when you turn the bass up it turns the bass up on all the speakers
but anyways...if u dont have a bass control knob..the bass boost is on the amp...so you just have to play with the two knobs until you find soemthing you like...
if i was doing it..i would just trun the bass boost up all the way...and then play with the gain
but i contacted my amp company and they said to put the equalizer all flat...put the bass boost at 1/3..and then mess with the gain
bass boost on the amp should be off....totally If you dont want clipping of course...
I wouldnt recommend having the LPF higher than 80hz because it becomes too directional above that.
when setting gains, bass on the HU should be flat. the NF/sub should be all the way up. volume at 3/4 of maximum, or the loudest youd ever turn it up without the sub on then slowly turn the gain up while listening to music youre very familiar with.. turn it up till it starts to sound different/worse then turn it back just a tad. all done
