2 small sub's better than 1 big one?

I have a Velodyne DD-10, but I feel it is a little small for my area. Should I add another DD-10 or just get a DD-12?

Adding a second subwoofer, placed on a nonparallel wall, will tend to give the most even frequency response from a low frequency system. By placing the subs on different walls you tend to excite different room resonances and nodes which, in turn, tend to even the room response. Place each sub individually as if you were only using one sub to determine proper placement. After determining the best location for each sub, adjust levels for the best frequency response.

How do you hookup up 2 subs?
Using a y adapter from the sub-preout?
