I have spent about 2 weeks buying different subs and placing them in my sealed enclosure to find the perfect sound. Yes I built the box first, because of the unusual space. Every speaker I have placed into this box regardless if the recommended volume is 2.5 cubic feet, or 1 cubic feet has sounded terrible
It sounds decent at lower volume, but then when I turn it up it starts to make a flapping sounds, almost like the box has a big hole in it. I have no idea what is causing this problem anyone have any ideas? Thanks
Even though the recommended box size is 2.5cuft, it sounds to me like the box is too big. There is to much space and not enough subwoofer to kick around the air and frequencies in the box. I dont know if i am wrong but i think i am on the right track. Somebody else will know.

It's a sealed box, 2.3 cubic feet of air space for one 12. I have tried an mtx 6000, and a fosgate that I bought at best buy, and now I have an Orion XtrS dual voice coil.
box is WAY too big that's your problem. that's even too big for one ported 12" you need to rebuild that box to about 1cu foot for a sealed 12", after displacement.
