I HAVE A RICHO 8MM AND GOT A CHANCE TO USE A NEW SONY TRV230 DIGITAL 8, I FELT THE COLOR WAS MORE VIVID WITH THE RICHO THEN SONY ESPECIALY IN LOW LIGHT CONDITONS. IS THEIR SOMETHING DIFFRENT WITH THE IMAGING DEVICE OF NEWER CAMERAS INCLUDING STANDERD HI8 ?

Yes, there is something different with the newer CCD's -- they're much closer to accurate. Older cameras were all over the place in color settings. The newer stuff looks pretty darn good when hooked up to a vectorscope. Remember, in video land, rich ain't necessarily accurate.
