i was reading on another forum that the aa atlas can't be bottomed out, cause it has a bottomless design and i was wondering how is that possible. and i was also reading that since its bottomless design that the vc will melt before the spider breaks and i was wondering if that true.
i believe it, kuz think about it, the tchnolage (sp) is getting to unbelieveably advanced, almost anything i spossable now... but im now, what do i know.. right
from what i read , bottomless simply means a raised hump on the sub's backplate which leaves a gap so that the VC cannot hit the backplate .
what might happen with excessive power is VC overheating which results in the windings coming apart & causing the coil to seize up due to friction ....
rovin, this is exactely what happened to my audiobahn sub, when i opened it up and had a look, half of the voice coil was stuck to the magnet and the rest to the voice coil it self
