Very new to the Car Audio scene. Probably a dumb question but what are the differences in the types of speakers.

Coaxile
Component
Mid Range/Mid Bass
Tweeters

I know tweeters are your very highs and mid bass is your bass a little higher than your subs but what about component and coaxile

coaxial is where you have tweeters added in the middle of your speaker. Example, 6 1/2" speaker looks like it has a tweeter glued in the middle of it. Component is where you have sets of speakers so you can mount them seperately. Example, like you have two 6 1/2" speakers and you also have 2 seperate tweeters. Not stuck together like the coaxial would be.

More in depth also, Component systems have separate crossovers to direct frequencies to the speakers (highs to the tweeter, mid range and below to the woofer) Component systems have advantage over coaxials because the woofer can move more w/o the tweeter, it doesn't have the interferance the tweeter in front creates, the tweeter can be mounted higher to get more clarity and detail, and last, the crossovers sound better b/c they get the right sound out of the speakers. Sorry, kinda long, just want to answer all your questions.

ok i got a question. i have a pair of coaxials in the front and 2 6x9 components in the back. how do i get a crossover...if that is what i need... to block the lows from those speakers so only my subs get those? when i turn up my system loud w/out my subs the back speakers try to hit the lows and distort a little so i want that to go away.

not sure how to do all this but thanks for the info

Just get bass blockers, they tie in line with the speaker wire, get a frequency about 100hz at 4 ohm and you'll be fine, 150 at most.
