I was really bored today and decided to have a peek inside my Pioneer receiver. It's a vsx-d1011 (or Elite 43TX in America) if you're interested.
I was admiring the innards of the beast (sad I know) and i nociced something strange. The fan at the front of the receiver may be wired up incorrectly - The yellow is connected to the Fan+ and the red wire is connected to the Fanstop.
Here are some photos:
Correctly wired back fan:
Is this front fan incorrecly wired?:
If the fan is incorrectly wired it sure would explain why it has never ever turned on - and i'm sure it should have. The receiver has become very hot during parties and stuff when the music is mega loud.
Any help would be really greatly appreciated.
Thanks Tim
PS: I havent voided the warranty because it is out of warranty.
It looks like a push-on connector for the front fan. They can only be "pushed on" in one direction, so the fan is correct from that stand point. It may still be wired incorrectly, but you'll have to ask Pioneer. Only a schematic (or direct comparison to another just like yours) can show how the fan should be wired.
