Anonymous | I am currently looking at purchasing my first decent HT Speaker system, but with all the Sales hype and controversial advertising I am left in confusion! HEEELP would be great. Currently I am comparing the Bose AM6;AM15's; Mission M-Cube; B&W MT20; MT30 and Kef 2005.2's. I am looking to spend between $1000 to $1400. What would the public recommend? Everyone's help would be appreciated! |

However you may want to take a look at some of the brands sold only through the internet like Ascend and Axiom. You can try them for a month and send them back if you don't like therm Either way stay as far away from Bose as you can. |

The Alegria Lings that Jan recommends are also very nice if you're big into musical warmth and have a good strong amp. |

The sub is good, but I think their is better out there for the money. A lot of people like the SVS and HSU lines. The best thing you could do is scratch Bose off the list and go to acouple Hi-Fi shops - not Best Buy or Circuit City to listen to as many different set-ups as you can. Actually, if your local Best Buy has Magnolia Home Theater section, check that out as well. If not, don't bother. |

You'd probably be paying some extra money for design in small speakers. If size is not an issue and you can go for bookshelves, with $1000, for a 5.1 set, I'd buy: 4 B&W DM-600 S3 (fronts and rears)$175 each = $700 1 B&W LCR-60 center.........................= $350 Sub Hsu STF-2 ..............................= $399 If you don't care about putting different speakers together you could try Ascend CMT-340 center or spending $500 i/o $350, then upgrade to B&W LCR-600 center. |
