I recently came across a SA-XR25 Panasonic reciever, (it was free) that i decided i should run my Athena AS-B2's for the fronts and AS-C1 for the center. I also have some craptastic sony bookshelfs from bout 6 years ago that im currently running as surrounds. Im a college student so i cant afford good surrounds and im on a budget. Anywho, my question is that this currently leaves me with a 5 speaker system that is missing a subwoofer. i really want to get a SVS PB10-ISD but thats 500 dollars that i cant really spend right now..( i also dont have a TV and i need to buy one of those).
What subwoofers would you recommend that are less than SVS's 10" or should i hold out and wait till i can afford one? thanks.
Get a Hsu STF-2 from Hsuresearch.com on B-stock, should run you about $345 shipped. Won't go as deep as the PB10 (25Hz instead of 20Hz) but very quick and tight bass, especially good for music. Also has more connections and features, like a built-in crossover and high level inputs.
