Can you sum up for me why the Solobaric subs aren't, "reliable"? I understand that it's due to the stress points on the corners and such, but I need you to write something so I can prove to these morons on Myspace.com that Kicker is not, how do they put it, the "shiznit". They tried telling me L7's would pound the hell out of Eclipse Ti's. I refused to believe this.
LOL! I'm not sure if they'll pound the hell out of them. If they did beat the Ti, I'm sure it wouldn't be by a large margin. Never heard a very good L7 setup (or maybe I have, and didn't know it!). And if they do, it probably doesn't sound like music!
And yes, the stress points are horrible on the corners.
The Ti is a very well built sub, and I've yet to see my old one fail, and I've beaten the h3ll out of it.
I'm sure there's better built subs, but the Ti can be for SPL/SQ/SQL in the right enclosure. I've yet to find a sub that flexible, well built, and still hit hard. Most of it's opinion, until you get a meter in the cars. But the Eclipse will own the L7 in SQ, sure of that :P.
As far as the square cone, other than the uneven stress points, the surrounds tend to fail due to the stress put upon them. The cone flexs, equalling more distortion at high volumes, also requires bracing, which adds cone mass and lowers efficiency. The square cone has odd resonance characteristics.
The subs have a poor design that isn't really inherent to the square cone, too. Lead slap is a problem with them, as is tinsel lead breaking. The motor design isn't good for linearity, while it has a strong BL at right at center, at high excursions BL drops off by a very large amount.
Build quality puts the icing on the sh*t cake.
But the kids could probably care less. I've learned to ignore the bandwagons and move on, because people aren't going to listen until you compete with them and let them hear.
I'm looking at some RE's. Either the XXX or the MT. Looking for SQL, more towards SPL. What kind of power do those bad boys take?

thought id ask since alot of smart personall were leaving there msgs. Also how are the Infintiy 6002I's? I have two of them where should i set them up Back or front i have a Civic 05
MuddyWaters: thanks man, but where can I get one? I havn't really looked into it. And maybe there's a better/cheaper alternative to buying them direct from the site?
Lanzar is now made by soundaround and pyramid caraudio is a part of that line. So what used to be an excellent product made by the True company named Lanzar and now bankrupt and bought out by soundaround is no more. Essentially ruining all quality to the name once held in high reguards
