I have done alot of car stereo and auto-mechanic work, but I have never installed an alarm. I am in need of one for my car and truck and am wondering if I should pay somebody to do the do the installation, or if I should try it myself. All I want the alarm to do is this:

1) Keep the car from starting if the alarm is tripped.

2) I want the alarm to trip due to any shock...minor or major.

3) I want the alarm to trip if a door or hood opens.

Thats it.

Where is the best place to buy alarms if one plans on doing their own installation??

Yes mike, they can be a pain in the @ss. I have been doing this stuff for years, and I still pay someone else to install all my alarms for me.

As for what to look into, Viper and Clifford both make some really nice alarms.
