a friend told me if i ran the ground to my battery it would give my amp a beter ground and the the input/output volt's would be matched? i have it grounded in the trunck now,what do you think??

I heard its bad to re-route your Ground to the battery. Keep it as close to the Amp as possible.
when you mount the ground wire to your chasis, you ARE re-routing it to your battery's neg terminal (because the neg is connected to the chasis). this is called the circle of life... i mean, DC.
what you want to do is mount the amp's ground to the chasis, and keep the ground wire short as possible.
