mark in sb Unregistered guest | i have a technics sa-ex110 stereo receiver (100wpc) and a pair of bose 201 IV speakers. i listen mostly to classical, and the speakers sound good generally, but once in a while, i'd like a bit more punch in the bass. even with the receiver's bass knob cranked up, the bass response is lacking, especially at low volume. actually, these speakers sound very good at mid to high volume, but i have to keep it down so as not to annoy the neighbors in the adjoining units. aside from buying a bunch of expensive equipment, what can i do to increase bass output? i don't have a lot of money to spend - would it be possible to add a single speaker just for the lows? the 'b' speaker terminals are available. |

Our hearing is less sensitive at the extremes of our hearing range which includes low frequency (bass) tones. Your equipment may be producing these tones but at a level less than what you're perceiving. So, how to fix it? Either boost the signal at the desired frequencies (like you've done with your tone control) or add a separate woofer that you can control the output on. Seems to me a "subwoofer" may be your best bet. I suggest not using the "B" outputs but rather getting a small powered sub with high level inputs/outputs that you can connect your main speakers to. |

Try to get an used one because of your budget. I send you a link where the connection issue is discussed. https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-audio/13187.html |
