I'm starting to shop for a receiver that will not be the latest greatest, but rather a last year or so model that is significantly cheaper. Unless there are manufacturers that are planning to come out with the following things for say under $700 ( I saw a small teac receiver labeled as multiroom a/v at a picture taken at ces).
Wants: -2nd room a/v with composite video and line level audio (for a kitchen or bedroom connection). -Decent remote control. -at least a 5.1 system (don't plan on going bigger). -on screen display for main room and second room. -aluminum/silver finish -share any source on either main or second room a the same time -external antenna connection -front a/v jacks for a camcorder Don't need: -any HDTV connections -7.1 audio
I plan on adding an a-bus system for the multiroom. Eventually I would like to add several other audio only rooms.
The only companies that I have found with such things are Rotel and Sherwood Newcastle. Neither are cheap. The rotel rsx-1056 (new model) is listed at $1300. The sherwood r-863 is about $850 (the 963 is probably a few hundred more). Wattage is not the most important thing, I would buy small speakers for the small living room to put this in.
any suggestions? any good places to buy closeouts? thanks guys.
