We've just finished remodeling our garage into a family room and I want to install a home theater system for under $500. The room is 22ft. by 29ft, and I've pre-wired it for a 6.1 system. I've been looking at the Onkyo HTS770. Does anyone have experience with this system, and could you give me a recommendation?
What other systems in the $400-$500 range should I be looking at?
Thanks,
Tom

For 500 or under, I would recommend the 780 for the extra speaker if you can accommodate it. If not, the 770 is an excellent system with good bass. None of the other systems in this price range can beat Onkyo.
I own the 770 and Love it. I enjoy the fact that it can convert all movies to 6.1. The 760 could not do so, the sub is powerfull and really gives some thump. The 780 is a step up, but if you find a 770 you can't go wrong with either. Onkyo in my opinion makes the best htib.
