i just installed 2 subs and 1 amp to my car. the amp is 800 watts. i drive an oldsmobile eighty-eight 1997. the amp wont stay on, it only blinks on for a second and turns off everytime i start the car or turn the key to acc. my battery is runnin 12 volts. is my battery not srong enough? would a capasitor help?
check all your wiring..especially your ground(black) wire..make sure that its only in contact with metal and not any plastic or any other non-metallic items
Try disconnecting the subs at the amp. If the amp works ok then you may have a short in your speaker wiring or a voice coil or your subs are wired in a way that presents too low of an impedance to the amp.
Which amp and which subs are you using and how do you have them wired? Most 2 channel amps are NOT stable below 4 0hm bridged and if have low impedance protection may very well shut off in that case.
was important to me man...my stuff wasnt working so i asked a question, i thought thats what the forum was for....help. thanks for the help tho quick shot and fishy, i got it to work.
the problem is your inability to read.. along with that of a lot of people around here lately. next time you post a new topic, look just to the right of the topic field box, and read the part that says "Do not post topics in all caps."
one other small favor I'll suggest to help you get more help. use a spell checker. words like "capacitor" aren't really that difficult to spell, and the little bit of added time in looking up a word you can't spell will help you in the long run.
