Help for a newbie: Here is what I have: Panasonic 50 plasma TV w/ speakers Samsung CD/DVD Denon 3805 receiver HDMI switch TIVO HD reciever (Direct TV) JBL speakers 5.1
So I have connected 1 HDMI cable to the TV, the other end goes to the switch box out. From the switch box inputs, the hdmi cables go to the DVD/CD player and the other to the Tivo receiver. All ok there.
I will connect the optical cable from the Tivo rec to optical 2 input (DBS) on the back of the Denon 3805. And connect the optical cable from the DVD/CD player to optical 4 input (DVD). I think that is okay.
Now, what do I connect to get the onscreen display? I was thinking TIVO rec S-video to Denon S-Video input (DBS). Then the input mode is DBS, but that didn't work.
Since the TV is already mounted, I am trying to avoid any other connection than the HDMI to the TV.
What I want is to have the option of watching TV with or without the Denon receiver on.
Lastly, Am I doing something wrong with the remote. It is hard to read, does that blue shield come off or how do I make it brighter?
