I have recently put together a home theater system with all new components. I have Infinity Primus 360 fronts, Primus C25 center,Velodyne DLS-400R sub, Infinty OWS-1 side wall speakers, and Primus 160 for the rear speakers. I have them all running into the yamaha RX-V1500 receiver. My problem is that anything that is 5.1 (which is about everything) uses the side speakers instead of the rear speakers. The room that I have is only 12 by 16 so it is not that big and the sound never seems to go "behind" you. Any idea on what I can do to resolve this problem. I have checked to make sure that the rear speakers are the surround speakers and have been hooked up correctly to the receiver. Thanks
Check your manual to see if you have an extended mode. Turn it to ON. That should allow the receiver to create a rear surround channel based on what's coming through the SL and SR channels. It should add spaciality to the speaker set-up. Alternately perhaps your side surrounds are not far back enough?
