Hi,I'm going to run speaker wire through my attic to the surrounds of a 5.1 HT system. The receiver/speakers will be about 30 feet apart and the wire will go through the walls and then into the (unfinished) attic and lay across the insulation. It's unlikey to be near an electrical wires etc. My question is, can I use the standard 16 Gauge Monster speaker cable (which I already have 100 feet of at home) or do I absolutely have to go out and buy (expensive!) CL-3 certified wire or some other sort of heavy duty in wall wire? Any advice is much appreciated - thanks

if you live in an area that gets really hot you may want to at least insulate that wire with something do prevent drying and cracking. otherwise you should be fine

I would use a heavier gauge to cover the distances you describe-maybe 12 or 14.
