Unregistered guest	Posted on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 15:29 GMT cellular phones use cell towers that are on the ground and can only communicate with in range of other towers like it or that the company owns, whereas sattelite phones send a signal to space where a sattelite picks it up and with its vast distance from the earth can virtually send the signal anywhere on the earth.
