I have a gemini xl 500. after scratching for a while it sometimes goes dead and i have to turn it off and wait for a while. i assume that the belt is worn out. what should i do?
buy a direct drive table, you will never regret it! you are just wearing out your table, causing stress on components that were not intened to handle that load. numarks are very affordable and coupled with a good cartride will give you a really nice scratching set up.
One problem with direct drive is that motor is coupled to the pick-up through the bearing, the platter and the LP.
"Goes dead", Alex. The platter stops turning? Is the motor still running the drive spindle? If so, yes, it is the coupling betwenn them, most likely belt. If not, it is something else.
