i got a dss that i havent used for 5 years. moved and didnt setup becuase this area under one of those greedy county dealerships. i read somewhere about datastream only for p4/5. so what i like to know is h and hu card and their receiver equipment (which i pay good money for at sears) still work with directtv or do i have to get a whole new system now?

so i need a new receiver then with the p4/5 cards too right? or has directtv given the p4/5 cards with a year program order for free now? did this new datastream crap make the old receivers worthless? so everyone that actaully brought the items as the orginal customers get screwed.

The old receivers work with the P4/5 cards...If U EVER subscribed to DTV before, then U are NOT considered a "NEW" subscriber and get nothing free from DTV (no 1 yr contract required either though)..maybe they'll throw U the cards ($20 each)and 3 months Showtime for free, depending upon the DTV rep and your bartering skills..for $49,they will give U a tivo receiver and install,if U negotiate, even with previous subscribers..

i was 97-99 subscriber. went threw that mess when they caller id block you to force you to call their one number to change serve when directtv brought hughes out. so if i was to ever want to get directtv again i would be better off getting the free setup instead. i think i will stick with cable then when i move back to my house in florida.
i figure dave means directtv. what does bravo and charlie mean when they say it in here?
if the old receivers from 8 years ago still work with p4/p5 cards then in theory h and hu cards should work. all a card does is be a key to tell the receiver its okay to show the station. old receivers are not being changed so h and hu cards should be workable somehow. oh well. they make doing anything in the usa illegal and therfor only have foriegn computer programers now.
Hah ... !!

H and HU cards do NOT work because DTV (Dave)(directv) no longer sends a video packet/signal to those cards, only audio (music channels)..and the P4/5 cards have a completely different high tech security code which the receiver can understand but has not been hacked yet..
bravo?...there is NO bravo, thats military for B..I believe U mean Bev for Canadian satellite Tv (Bell express venue)...Charlie is a slang for echostar dishnetwork satellite Tv
U can Never get a free DTV setup again cause U just stated U WERE a previous customer in 97-99...again, Free DTV hardware and installation are ONLY for NEW subscribers, which U are not..
based upon your reply,I think U should stick with cable Tv..

as for a free dtv setup. yes. different creditcard number and phone number and location. but frankly i dont care for dss. biggest scam there ever was. it once was good and now its not.
as for what i said about the cards. base on what you said above that the receivers where still good and could be used with p4/p5 cards. as long as a singal is coming down a card with its receiver should still be able to access it. i can understand not being able if the older receivers where no good.
i frankly dont give a shite. i just wanted to know if the cards and old receivers where anygood. since the cards are not anygood then it makes no sense to keep equipment that is 8 years old.

I would like help on how to program and how to obtain the equipment to do so as well. If someone is willing to help out a beginner, please extend your hand.
