I'm looking for information on what can be connected to the USB ports in the rear of my SD DVR40. The thought that I had was that I could connect an external HDD to this port and use the external HDD as a portable storage device, which I could then disconnect & connect to my PC for video extraction and burning special shows to disk. I can't find even a mention of the USB ports in the user manual.

I have the a DirecTV Tivo DVR and it has 2 USB ports on the back. I was hoping to be able to transfer programs digitally into my new iRiver, which acts as a portable 20Gb hard drive and then transfer them into my upstairs computer. Unfortunately, like you, I have found no information in the manual describing the ports, other than "for future use". I hope someone out there knows if this is possible.
