Just bought LCD TV- want to use component cable to connect it to my Hughes sat receiver. However this (older) receiver doesn't have the Y, Pb, Pr connectors- it just has the older yellow, white, and red connectors...along with an S video connector.

Do I just need to buy a newer receiver? Should I just connect using the available S video port? Is there a converter I can buy to connect the component cable to the older receiver?

Any advice/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated- thanks.

Just use your S-video

Thanks for the reply- one more question. I already have the receiver connected to the TV using component video- I just connected the component video cable to the yellow, white, and red connectors on the receiver. The picture is actually pretty sharp...
- Would I get a much better picture if I bought an S video cable to replace the component cable?

In my opinion, using S video is just as good as component hookups. U will not see the differance. There is a differance in picture quality between Svideo and your regular audio video hookups and u will notice it. Svideo cables are not expensive. The way u are using your component cables will give u a fairly good picture, but that's not how they were meant to be used, so go with the Svideo cable, since u dont have component jacks on your Hughes. The comparison is like watching dvd versus videotape.
