I just purchased a Sony DE-995 surround reciever and hooked it up to my Sony DVP-NS725P DVD player (which I have enabled DTS output via the menu system).
I am usign Klipsh KG-4s for the front speakers and a Klipsh SC5 center channel speaker. I do not have rear speakers or a sub.
When I place the receiver in AFD mode, (the mode that is supposed to detect decoding type) I would expect to see the multi channel light come on when I play a movie like Time Cop 2 or the DTS light when I play Pearl Harbor. (like my manual suggests).
Even when I manually select Dolby, Dolby II or DTS on the receiver, the multi-channel light remains off.
Is the fact that I am not using rear speakers keeping the decoding light from showing the type of encoding?
