I just bought a set of Boston Acoustics 6.5 Pro component speakers and plan on pushing them with a JL Audio 300/2 series amp. I am slowly building my system and plan on adding a single sub (10" or 12") and another amp sometime in the future. I want to put together a well balanced system, not something that is loud as hell and sounds like sh!t. My question is about the wiring. I only want to run the power wire once since I will be putting another amp in later, but I do not know what gauge wire to use. Will a 4-gauge power wire be big enough, or should I go larger? Also, should the ground wire match the power wire, or should the grounds be larger? One last question, how do I choose the size of fuse to use in the power wire. Thanks a lot.
you'll want to run 4ga. that should be fine. at the amp(s) you'll use a distribution block and split down to 8ga for the 300/2 and use the same 8ga for grounding the amp. for now, a 40A fuse will work for the 300.2 you'll increase that when you add the second amp
